What is the role, and who would you be working with?

As the QA Specialist, you'll be ensuring our games are seamless, fun, and bug-free. This isn’t your typical QA role: you’ll actively jump, climb, and play to test our mixed-reality games and their unique physical challenges. You’ll play a crucial part in delivering high-quality, movement-based gaming experiences for players around the world. Beyond testing, you’ll lay the foundation for our quality assurance processes, taking initiative to improve workflows and helping streamline game releases.

👉 Whether it’s climbing walls, bouncing on trampolines, or battling in gaming arenas, your work will combine physical play with systematic problem-solving to ensure every player has an incredible experience!

Your tasks include:

✅ Playtest mixed-reality platforms (e.g., ValoClimb, ValoJump, ValoArena) to replicate real-world experiences, identify issues and risks, and suggest improvements to testing processes and release workflows.
✅ Execute and maintain comprehensive functional tests as well as smoke tests for game updates, new features, and releases.

✅ Perform exploratory testing to uncover hidden issues while suggesting improvements to workflows and processes.

✅ Collaborate with developers and customer success teams to reproduce and troubleshoot bugs and ensure our products meet high quality standards.

✅ Maintain and refine QA documentation, ensuring test cases and pre-release checklists are up to date.

✅ Stay informed about the latest tools and trends in QA practices to bring forward innovative enhancements.

✅ Assist in planning QA strategies for future game releases, ensuring smooth execution for new and exciting projects.

✅ Monitoring releases that are rolling out, ensuring the releases run smoothly and without issues on customer systems.

• Your team: You will be part of our skilled, creative development team led by our CTO Joni Vähämäki. You’ll collaborate with game development and customer success teams to troubleshoot issues, enhance processes, and launch updates.

Critical know-how that you’ll need to succeed in this role

✅ Language & Location: Fluent in English and able to work on-site at least 3 days a week at our Helsinki (Lauttasaari) office.

✅ Previous experience: You have already gained some experience in software or game quality assurance and testing.

✅ Software development understanding: Familiarity with software development concepts or technicalities, gained through relevant studies in software development or another tech-related field and/or through hobbies.

✅ Interest in game development: A genuine interest in how we combine technology and movement in innovative ways. Eagerness to explore, discover bugs through exploratory testing, and suggest improvements. Previous game development experience, whether from studies, hobby projects, or work is considered a big plus for us.

✅ Physical energy and ability: Comfortable with active play, including jumping, climbing, and moving for extended periods.

✅ Attention to detail: A keen eye for spotting even the smallest issues during gameplay testing.

✅ Communication skills: The ability to clearly document and report findings to the team in an effective and concise manner.

✅ Organizational mindset: Capable of managing multiple tasks, staying systematic, and keeping QA processes streamlined.

✅ Passion for games and player experience: You recognize what makes gameplay great, genuinely care about the player experience, and proactively seek ways to improve it.
